The Kimpton Hotels team, led by Olympic medalist Joan Cardona, has claimed victory in the second event of the Barcelona Winter Series, held this weekend on the waters of Barcelona and organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (RCNB). With a strong turnout and a very high level of competition, the regatta concluded with an exciting final day after three days of racing and a total of six completed races under various wind conditions


On Friday, the competition started with a delay due to a lack of wind. However, conditions improved throughout the afternoon, allowing one race to be completed. The Ratsey & Lapthorn team, with Gonzalo Romagosa and Aleix Fernández at the helm, took the win in this race, closely followed by Diva from Kai-Uwe Hollweg and Hang Ten with Jorge Martínez Doreste at the wheel.

Saturday brought significantly improved weather conditions, allowing for three races to be completed. On this day, the German team Diva emerged as the standout team, achieving a 2, a 2, and a 10, which allowed them to take the lead in the provisional overall standings. Hang Ten and Kimpton Hotels were also major players of the day, with competitive results that left them tied for second place.

On Sunday, wind conditions were more challenging, allowing only one race to be completed. Despite the difficulties, Kimpton Hotels held steady and achieved a favorable result that allowed them to secure the final event win with a total of 23 points. Hang Ten and Diva finished tied with 24 points.

2. Hang Ten (ESP1706) – Mon Cañellas Salas (RCN Gran Canaria) – 24 points

3. Diva (GER929) – Kai-Uwe Hollweg (SKWB) – 24 points

This second event was a great success for the international J70 fleet, which continues to showcase a high level of competition in every race. HSN Sailing Team from Luis Martínez Doreste and Bodega Can Marlés from Lucia Pombo García complete the top 5 of the second event, reflecting the quality and competitiveness witnessed on every race day.

Provisional overall standings (with one discard) ‘TOP FIVE’:

1. Hang Ten (ESP1706) – Martínez / Cañellas / Guillen (RCN Gran Canaria) – 39 points

2. Bodega Can Marlés (ESP1419) – Lucia Pombo García (CN Vilanova) – 56 points

3. Lady in Red (DEN1566) – Sten Mohr (Royal Danish YC) – 59 points

4. Seriousfun (GBR1383) – Tony Hayward (RCN Barcelona) – 68 points

5. HSN Sailing Team (ESP1214) – Martínez / López / Castillo / Terrades (RCNB / RCNGC) – 78 points

The regatta featured the participation of renowned international sailors, including Olympic medalist Joan Cardona, World Champion Rayco Tabares, and ocean navigator Roberto “Chuny” Bermúdez de Castro, who put on an exciting and high-level show over the course of the three days of competition.

The Barcelona Winter Series will continue in January with the third event, promising more excitement and challenges for the participating teams.

The J70 class kicks off the Barcelona Winter Series season with prominent international participation




Last Sunday marked the conclusion of the fifth and final event of the International Barcelona Winter Series of J70. A resounding success, where every day of competition was sailed, with a total of 34 races contested and five monthly series that began in October 2023. Foreign participation was notable, with 20 teams from England, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United States, Austria, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and Spain.




The first act of the Barcelona Winter Series 23-24, which took place over the past weekend in the waters of Barcelona and was organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, has concluded. The J70 fleet completed a total of 6 races, with four on Saturday and two on Sunday, with a non-racing day on Friday due to adverse weather conditions. A total of eight boats participated, representing Spain, Great Britain, and France.




Este fin de semana se ha celebrado el quinto y último acto de las internacionales Barcelona Winter Series. Un total de doce equipos han participado en este desenlace, en un fin de semana muy frío y con distintas condiciones de viento, en esta regata organizada anualmente por el Real Club Náutico de Barcelona




El pasado fin de semana 9, 10 y 11 de diciembre se celebró el tercer acto de las Barcelona J70 Winter Series, que cuenta con 14 equipos representando 5 países, España, Inglaterra, Polonia, Alemania y Andorra. Acudieron a esta cita los equipos españoles y polaco, pues el resto de flota no pudo acudir a la cita.




Finaliza el segundo acto de la Barcelona J70 Winter Series, celebrada en aguas de Barcelona el pasado fin de semana 18, 19 y 20 de noviembre. La internacional regata ha contado con 12 equipos representando 5 países, España, Inglaterra, Polonia, Alemania y Andorra.




Finaliza el primer evento de la nueva temporada de las internacionales J70 Barcelona Winter Series, celebradas en aguas de Barcelona el 30 de septiembre, 1 y 2 de octubre, y que organiza el Reial Club Nàutic de Barcelona.




El pasado fin de semana se ha disputado el último acto de la regata internacional Barcelona Winter Series, cerrando la temporada 2021-2022, e inaugurando la J70 Spring Regatta, organizadas por el Real Club Náutico de Barcelona.
